Shakespeare is the most recognizable playwright who has ever lived. From the 1600’s to now his shows have been performed all over the world bringing joy and inspiration to millions. His stories are iconic and wonderful jumping off points for so many wonderful works of art and literature.
In the mid nineteen seventies two game designers. Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson gifted the world with a completely immersive game that let the players control and change the story as they inhabit their characters. The Role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons was born.
Originally the game was based on fantasy works such as JRR Tolkien's books, but we thought what if we used the D&D system with a Shakespearean story? Better yet, what if we used a full Shakespeare play as the basis for the game?
In Shakespeare & Dragons our players will inhabit six of the characters from a Shakespeare play and through their choices and rolls of the dice will inevitably alter the story.
Do not worry if you don’t know Shakespeare that well as the story well as it will change.
What if you do not know the rules for D&D? No problem, as the players and Game master do and it will be easy to follow and fun to watch.
Will the story be changed for the better or worse? Will the end result still be the same as what Shakespeare wrote?
Or will we cause Shakespeare to roll in his grave and cause him to visit us as a ghostly apparition much like Hamlet's father? We will see.
