ABOUT MERLON DEVINE
Love and inspiration can come from many places, but Merlon Devine’s love and inspiration to play music came from right inside his childhood home. Growing up with a singing mother and a guitar playing father, Merlon and his nine siblings lived in a home filled with gospel music. Although Merlon did not have the gift to sing as many of his siblings did, he eventually found his voice on the saxophone.
Merlon’s signature sound and soulful expression on the horn has set him apart and propelled him onto various stages during his career. From mega churches to international jazz festival tours, concert halls and more, Merlon is a veteran performer known for his dynamic and mesmerizing stage presence. He has worked with gospel jazz artists Ben Tankard and Bruce Allen of the duo Allen and Allen. He has shared the stage with Kirk Whalum, Paul Jackson, Jr., Tom Braxton and Michael Manson to name a few. He considers Saxophonists Kirk Whalum and Najee as his musical mentors.
Intriguing, soulful, innovative and soothing describe the urban contemporary jazz styled music Merlon is known for. His latest single “The Platform” is currently being played on national and international stations!
